JL Audio C6-650 6.5″ component speakers

Description

The C6-650 woofer/midrange drivers use JL Audio’s DMA-optimised design. The motor, suspension and cone modelling aims to achieve more linear operation, stronger midbass and lower distortion. The cast aluminium speaker frame uses Elevated Frame Cooling™ technology, and the large-diameter voice coil helps improve power handling and reduce thermal compression at higher volume levels.

High frequencies are handled by 1-inch pure silk dome tweeters. The silk dome design is intended to deliver smooth and detailed high-frequency reproduction even when the listener is not directly on the tweeter’s axis. The neodymium magnet provides a strong magnetic flux in a compact design, and ferrofluid cooling helps improve reliability and the tweeter’s smooth frequency response.

The C6-650 kit includes external passive crossovers. The crossover allows the tweeter level to be adjusted in four different steps and uses high-quality polyester film and electrolytic capacitors as well as low-loss air-core inductors. The electronics are housed in a protective enclosure with a smoked polycarbonate cover.

The C6-650 is therefore a complete 2-way component system that combines separate 6.5-inch woofer/midrange drivers, 1-inch tweeters and external crossovers.
