JL Audio C7-650cw 6.5″ component speakers

Description

The C7-650cw is designed with long linear excursion and very good linearity to deliver powerful midbass and clean, precise midrange reproduction. To reduce distortion and non-linearities, JL Audio has optimised the dynamic behaviour of the driver’s motor and suspension.

The speaker cone is made of vacuum-formed mineral-filled polypropylene, which combines low mass with good damping. The cone’s slightly curved profile is designed to optimise the frequency response, and the specially shaped dust cap helps improve the driver’s behaviour at higher frequencies.

The C7-650cw uses a high-density magnet system with a high-quality Y35 strontium ferrite magnet. The 32 mm diameter voice coil is wound with copper wire on a fibreglass former. The larger voice coil helps increase power handling and reduce thermal compression and distortion at higher volume levels. The cast alloy basket uses JL Audio’s patented Elevated Frame Cooling technology.

C7 series drivers are intended primarily for active audio systems, and the manufacturer does not recommend using passive crossovers with them. For best results, JL Audio recommends a high-quality DSP and a separate amplifier channel for each C7 speaker. This allows precise adjustment of the crossover filters, equaliser and delays to suit the vehicle.
