SGM Onyx 2 Prime is a high-quality vibration damping material designed to reduce vibration and structure-borne noise in car body parts. The material’s elastic butyl rubber mastic helps damp the vibration of metal panels and reduce the noise transmitted into the cabin through the structures while driving.

Description
Aluminium foil is used as the top layer of the material, which together with the elastic mastic layer forms an effective vibration damping construction. SGM’s Onyx series material retains its elasticity over a wide temperature range and is moisture-resistant.
The vibration damping material is installed as the first layer directly onto a cleaned metal surface. Its purpose is to make the treated panel stiffer and reduce its resonance. The material is self-adhesive and does not need to be heated before installation.
The 2 mm Onyx is well suited for treating car doors, the roof, the floor and other body parts where effective vibration damping is desired without using a very thick layer of material. For the current Onyx Atom version from SGM, the manufacturer recommends use on the roof, floor, dashboard and plastic wheel arch liners.
