SGM Air M4 Prime vibration damping material

Description

The material is based on a reduced-mass butyl rubber compound and its construction uses aluminium foil. In its lightweight Air series materials, SGM uses hollow microsphere technology, which reduces the mass of the material while retaining good vibration damping properties. For SGM’s current Air series materials, the manufacturer states a weight reduction of up to 30% compared with conventional vibration damping materials.

The 4 mm thick material is suitable for areas where body parts need stronger vibration damping. The vibration damping material is installed as the first layer directly on the metal surface, where it reduces panel vibration and helps limit low-frequency noise travelling through the structure.

The lower weight of the Air series is an advantage especially when treating larger surfaces, because thorough soundproofing with conventional heavy vibration damping mats can add a considerable amount of weight to the car.

In SGM’s current range, Air M4 Prime is no longer offered under the same model name, and the current lightweight Prime Air vibration damping materials are Air Ultima 2.1 mm and Air Qorum 3.1 mm. Therefore, in the technical data below, I am leaving the dimensions, thickness, weight and damping factor of the specific version of Air M4 Prime that you sell unchanged, rather than replacing them with the figures of a newer model.
