JL Audio C5-650X 6.5″ coaxial speakers

Description

The woofer/midrange drivers use a cast aluminium basket, a mineral-filled polypropylene cone and a butyl rubber surround. JL Audio’s DMA-optimised magnet system helps reduce distortion and improves driver control and transient reproduction. The Elevated Frame Cooling™ design improves voice coil cooling and helps maintain stable operation under higher loads. Official JL Audio materials confirm the C5-650x as a 6.5-inch coaxial model.

High frequencies are handled by a 0.75-inch (19 mm) soft silk dome tweeter, mounted coaxially in the centre of the woofer/midrange driver. The tweeter uses ferrofluid cooling and a neodymium magnet, and its design is intended to deliver smooth and detailed high-frequency reproduction.

The C5-650x uses separate 2-way crossovers. The crossovers use high-quality Mylar® capacitors and air-core inductors. The tweeter level and the character of the midrange can be adjusted, allowing the sound to be tuned more precisely to the installation and listening preferences.

The continuous power handling is 75 W RMS per channel, the nominal impedance is 4 Ω and the sensitivity is 89.5 dB. The frequency response is 48 Hz – 25 kHz. The mounting depth of the speakers is 66 mm and the outer diameter of the magnet system is 90 mm.
