JL Audio MX500/4 4-channel marine amplifier

Description

The MX500/4 uses JL Audio NexD™ Class D amplification technology. High efficiency helps reduce current draw and heat generation, allowing high output power from a compact enclosure. The amplifier’s total power is 500 W RMS.

The four-channel design makes it possible to power, for example, two pairs of speakers or to use the channels bridged for speakers that require more power. At 14.4 V, the MX500/4 delivers 70 W RMS × 4 into 4 Ω and 125 W RMS × 4 into 2 Ω. Bridged, the output power is 250 W RMS × 2 into 4 Ω.

The built-in signal processing allows a full-range, high-pass or low-pass filter to be selected for each channel pair. The filter frequency range is 35–300 Hz and the slope is 12 dB/oct. In addition, a 2-, 3- or 4-channel input mode can be selected, making it flexible to connect the amplifier to different audio systems.

Differential balanced inputs also allow a speaker-level signal to be used without a separate line-out converter and help reduce noise from the electrical system. The controls are located under a waterproof protective cover.
