SGM Barrier Mix Prime is a premium-class multi-layer sound deadening material from the SGM Prime series, combining sound blocking, sound absorption and additional vibration damping in a single material. The material is designed for use in areas of the car where noise levels are higher and the most effective sound deadening possible is needed with a relatively small material thickness.

Description
The material consists of three functional layers. The top layer is a 3 mm thick, high-mass MLV (Mass Loaded Vinyl) polymer layer, whose purpose is to block sound across a wide frequency range. Beneath it is a high-density recycled polyurethane foam, which absorbs sound and helps reduce the noise entering the cabin. The bottom layer is a pressure-sensitive self-adhesive layer, which simplifies installation and provides additional vibration damping.
SGM Barrier Mix Prime is 6 mm thick, and according to the manufacturer its noise reduction effectiveness reaches up to 35 dB. The construction of the material uses resonance absorption to achieve strong sound deadening without a very thick insulation layer.
The material is intended primarily for the car floor, the boot and the inner sides of the wheel arches. Its use is not recommended in areas with high humidity, because the sound-absorbing intermediate layer lets moisture through. The operating temperature of the material is –40 to +120 °C.
The updated Barrier Mix Prime uses an adhesive layer with higher tack, and the material does not need to be heated before installation. During installation the position of the material can still be adjusted, after which the adhesion of the adhesive layer increases gradually. According to the manufacturer, adhesion increases by approximately 25% within 15–20 minutes and by 60–80% or more within 24 hours.
