Description

A distinguishing feature of the TW1 series is JL Audio’s Concentric Tube Suspension™ technology. This design makes it possible to position the motor structure higher inside the speaker than usual, retaining long excursion while reducing the overall depth of the driver. The result is a space-saving subwoofer driver that does not require a large enclosure to achieve high-quality bass reproduction.

Dynamic Motor Analysis, or DMA, technology is used to optimise the behaviour of the motor and suspension across the driver’s entire operating range. The aim is to reduce distortion and achieve controlled, accurate bass even at higher excursion.

The 10-inch driver has a continuous power handling of 300 W RMS and a nominal impedance of 2 Ω. The manufacturer’s official guide specifies both sealed and ported enclosure solutions. The recommended net volume for the sealed enclosure is only 9.91 litres, which makes the subwoofer particularly well suited to space-saving installations. The recommended net volume for the ported enclosure is 17.7 litres.

Despite its compact build, the one-way linear excursion is 10 mm. JL Audio recommends using this driver in a bi-amped system with a high-quality amplifier and satellite speakers, and does not recommend using a passive crossover with the subwoofer.
